Etymology[]
- The name Mai means "dance" (舞) (ma) and "clothing, garment" (衣) (i).
- Mai's surname Sakura means "already, now, fast, early" (早) (sa) and "warehouse, storehouse, barn, treasury, granary, cellar, magazine, godown, depository, elevator, storage place, repository, supply shed, grain elevator, stockpile, arsenal" (倉) (kura).

- According to Kanon on her route, Mai has worse cat-tongue (nekojita) than her.
- She really likes the color of pink, as she tells Kazuya that her room is decorated very girlish with pink as the main color.
- She is similar to Ai Nanasaki from Amagami, as they are both friends with the protagonist's respective sisters Kanon and Miya Tachibana, and are both athletic as Mai is a member of the gymnastics team while Ai is a member (later captain) of the swimming team.
