- The name Tomoe means "friend, companion, pal" (友) (tomo) and "favor, benefit" (恵) (e).
- Tomoe's surname Misumi means "deep angle" (深角).

- Tomoe is originally the first secret heroine on the game.
- According to series producer, Ichiro Sugiyama, the ending theme for the Photo Kano game, "Photograph Memory," was created with Tomoe in mind. Each love interest character sings the same song at the ending, with changes made to the lyrics. Tomoe's version was the first to be written, stated Sugiyama.
